A lovely light filled Swedish apartment

This Swedish apartment has everything I look for in a space - wonderful high ceilings, original wood flooring, big double doors and lots of natural light. It's also been beautifully decorated with a colour scheme of white, grey with a splash of yellow in the sitting room and blue in the bedroom - it's amazing what a cushion (like the Dot-Hallingdal and Large Geometry ones shown here) can do to a space too don't you think?! And a mix of old and new furniture.

Did I mention it's also for sale?! More pictures here.

Today I'm actually at my desk (as opposed to the stairs, my bed, the sofa or anywhere else I might sit and work). I was amazed (and excited) to see my office space appear in Grazia UK magazine the other day thanks to the book 'Design Bloggers At Home'. It made me realise I should probably sit here more often!!

Where do you sit and work?

I hope you have a lovely day!

A pretty white apartment in Gothenburg

It's Friiiiiiiiiday, woohoo!! To celebrate let's go for a classic contemporary all white affair with this beautiful Gothenburg apartment built in 1939 and for sale via Alvhem (it's been a while since I've done a  'for sale in Sweden' post - at least 7 days...!). I spy Scandinavian designer pieces, mid century finds and vintage prints organised in the relatively small space of 39 metres square. I think the creative people at Alvhem who also own the shop in the last image, have done a fab job.

Alvhem
It's quite impressive how the white makes the space look so much larger than it is. Alvhem has been really clever with the room layout too.

What do you think?

So that's it from me for this week, do you have any great plans for the weekend? Me, I'm off out with the girls tonight :) Oh and re-thinking a major room change in the house which requires lots of help from Pinterest of course! Have a lovely a couple of days and see you Monday!

A Light-filled, Pared-Back Coastal Home In Halland, Sweden

If you're a long-term reader of My Scandinavian Home - first of all thank you! Second of all, you may well recognise the name 'Alvhem'. I've been covering homes featured by the Gothenburg-based estate agent for years - mostly because looking through their listings is akin to browsing a Swedish interior magazine! Needless to say, the home of Alvhem's founder and co-owner Sandra Guerrero is equally beautiful! Sandra lives with her partner Martin, their one and a half year old daughter Alma and dogs DJ and Ramón in Halland, West Sweden. With the sea lapping at the shore on one side and undulating meadows on the other, the pair have kept the interior deliberately simple to ensure it doesn't compete with the view. The spacious living area features white washed walls, a wide plank wood floor planks (love it!)  and subtle green, grey, cinnamon and dark brown accents. It's time to pour a coffee (I'm on my third  - can you tell I've been living in Sweden for a while?!) and take a peek inside!

Söderhamn sofa, source similar prints from The Poster Club* (ships worldwide). This waffle blanket* is similar (this cinnamon coloured pillow / cushion* would look fab in this space too).

The wall in the dining area has been painted in Washed Linen 10679. I also spy Thonet chairs*and Ant chairs*

DJ and Ramón remind me so much of my childhood Springer Spaniel, Puddles. I miss her - she was such a lovely dog!

The classic, country-style kitchen cabinets have been painted in Hardwick White by Farrow & Ball.

The back wall in the bedroom has been painted in cosy Ascott by Jotun. This brown linen bed set* is similar (dog optional!).

Tip: notice how a marble top has been added to a vintage wood side table. This is a popular hack in Sweden and a great way to update vintage furniture. Check out your local flea market and antique stores for similar furniture and ask a local stone mason to cut a slab of marble to size for you.

I love the simplicity of this home - it's a look the Scandinavians do so well!

Despite everything in the home being incredibly well thought out down to the tiniest detail, Sandra admits that she couldn't resist the wood floor, even though she knew it might get damaged by DJ and Ramón's paws. Such a tricky one. Do you have dogs and experience the same kind of dilemmas?

You can see more pictures of Sandra's lovely home and read the full interview over at Alvhem

Happy 'lillördag' (little Saturday) friends!

Light, airy and relaxed apartment in Gothenburg

To complete the week, a Swedish home in Gothenburg currently for sale through Alvhem. It's white, white, white with a touch of colour and funkiness here and there (cue vintage suitcases, resident bike and green splashback) and represents many of the things I love about Swedish apartment interior design; it's light, airy and relaxed.

Alvhem

Alvhem always style so well. Are there any take home spaces for you here? My favourite areas have to be the bedroom and the little eating space in the kitchen, perfect.

Have a lovely Friday all and see you after the weekend!

A light and bright Gothenburg home

Morning! It's truly mid winter here in Sweden now. Dark, cold, snowy. We're all hibernating indoors with lit candles eating too many cinnamon buns (I speak for myself on that last point!). At this time of year I feel having a beautiful, cosy home is even more important since we're inside so much of the time. I like this Gothenburg home currently for sale through Alvhem. It's light, has beautiful bones and blends high street finds like the Urban chair from IKEA with Scandinavian classics like the Eames DSR chair.

Alvhem

My take home message from this home is to add colourful cushions to my sofa in time for spring. How about you?

See more fab homes from Alvhem here, here and here. Or for colourful cushion inspiration I'm loving Elina Dahl's home (one of the most ever viewed home tours on My Scandinavian Home for good reason!).

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Caroline of Beautifulosophy blog for a fika. It's always so fun to meet someone in person from the blog world, we had such a great chat. I love Caroline's blog, it's such a treat each day.

I hope you have a lovely day!

A Beautiful, Light-filled 19th Century Swedish Loft Apartment

Why, hello there! I hope you had a wonderful weekend (if I've got this right, I think many of you are off today too? In which case I hope you're having a fabulous day and the sun is shining for you like it is here Sweden!). I'm kicking off the week with this beauty of an attic apartment, tucked under the rooftops of Gothenburg. The building dates back to the late 19th century - and still bears many remnants from the past - including beautiful beams and a traditional Swedish tiled masonry oven. The simple white theme ensures a light-filled space and creates a beautiful contrast with the dark wood structure, while Swedish interior designers Emma Fischer and Linnéa Manaberi have worked around the low slanted ceilings and little nooks to create a practical living space. Ready to take a look around?

How lovely! It just goes to show how, with a little help from skylights and a white scheme, you can create beautiful light-filled home in an attic!

I also love the beams, white wood panelled walls and fig tree!

Is there anything that stood out to you?

Maybe you can imagine living there? In which case, you might want to head over to Alvhem as it's for sale! Yep, I know!

Fancy taking a peek inside a few more attic spaces today? Here are a few beauties:

It's also worth taking a look at:

Honestly, today is the warmest, sunniest day in Sweden we've had since last September. It's almost cruel that it's landed on a Monday! Should I take the day off? I'm very tempted!

Wishing you a lovely, sunny start to the week!
