A beautiful, white, light and airy Australian cottage

I loooove this dreamy Australian cottage today. Pastels, muted tones and natural wood against a pristine white backdrop. A few modern touches and beautiful white panelling throughout. So pretty, light and airy. Yes please!

A beautifully renovated parsonage in the Swedish countryside

This parsonage from the 1700's and featured in Lantliv had been uninhabited for fifty years. And then Gustaf Willers took it over and gave it a whole new lease of life. I absolutely love that he has stayed faithful to the style and the location but added a modern touch. I dream daily about buying a beautiful old Swedish house and renovating it. Perhaps one day i'll be posting about that? but for now, here's someone else's beauty!

If you understand Swedish it's worth taking a read of the article. There are so many lovely touches to the renovation, such as Gustaf's mother colouring in the 800 hand-printed flower baskets on the bedroom wallpaper by hand. Now that's dedication!  Makes me think. What can changes can I make in my home just by taking the time to use good old fashioned handiwork?

A rural retreat in Jutland, Denmark

Oj oj oj! (as they say in Sweden), what a retreat! This cosy yet minimal cottage is situated on the North coast of Jutland, Denmark.

Wow!

It's fascinating how the home-owners have made something that could appear cold and hard, warm and soft. Such as tolix chairs draped with sheep skin, or the sparse space with a concrete floor bordered by warm wood. Extremely tantilising and clever.

The weekend retreat of a Danish set designer

On wintery days like today all I want is to sit by a roaring log fire. Danish set designer Rie Lykke and her family spend days off at their cottage in Rørvig, Denmark where they can do just that......

I love the contrast of black and white in every room and the sharp lines. And look at her squirrel duvet?! Animal bedding is definitely the only way to sleep this winter....try Hviit for similar. Thank you Femina for featuring this lovely retreat!

Turquoise and greens in a beautiful Swedish cottage kitchen

I love the kitchen of this summer cottage out in the Stockholm archepelegoes. Everything you see has a history from the shelving unit picked up in India to the lamp over the table which was a French flea market find.Turquoise and light greens are quickly becoming my favourite colours of the week, they are so beautiful against the white don't you think?

Ethel's sunny house

This family found the perfect solution to have mother-in-law close at hand - building Ethel a house in the garden. I could quite easily live in this bright and breezy Swedish home! Thank you Hus o Hem!
